I know a bloke whose married an Indonesian wife who already had a child. He's a rough as bloke to talk with, but he really cares for this new family. Takes the little fella out to kick a footy, looks after his wife well. He's set up his finances to look after them both if he kicks the bucket - but not if she leaves him. Gotta respect the guy.

An American friend has a Thai wife and they seem happy. He's no angel and she walked out once because of his unfaithfulness, but he persuaded her to give him another chance and now they seem happy.
An Australian friend married a Burmese woman 18 months ago and they seem very happy, but the Australian Government still hasn't given her a marriage visa, so they can only visit each other's country on 90 day tourist visas, which means they are apart more than together.

There are many successful marriages. I still find it odd that some of these young Asian woman married some of the 'one foot in the grave ozzie blokes" I have seen recently though, but who can stand in the way of love.

Yesterday I attended an alumni meeting addressed by a young (30s) doctor who is an expert in rural medicine. He grew up on a farm not far from here - his mother is Filipino. As far as anyone can tell, the marriage was successful.

That surely is Dr Shannon Nott. If so, I have known him since he was a little kid at Boarding School and he has always been the most exceptional young man that has done so much to promote Dr's in the bush.

There certainly are successful marriages. Not all the failures are the fault of the woman either. I have seen examples in which the man just wanted a submissive sex slave and housekeeper, which may be why he had failed to find one in Australia and looked overseas.
Incidentally it can go the other way. I know an American woman happily married to a Thai man and an Australian woman married to a man from Burma. Both couples have produced stunning daughters.
