How many 10 year olds know what a camera shutter is?
They still use Steam Trains as the standard symbol for a Train in many places. How many 10 year olds have seen a Steam Train.
    Cheers, Billy.

It's the thing that goes 'kachirrrk'.

Every single one. Admittedly they all have faces.

The family junior was a real fan of that show when he was around 6. So as a treat we took him to ride on a proper steam train down at Goolwa. Imagine his terror at seeing a giant hulking black brute of a malevolently hissing steam oozing monster instead of a twee blue tank engine with a smiley face. Every single time the engine whistled at a crossing he jumped 4" off his seat. To this day he has zero memory of the incident, so successfully has he erased the memory of not-Thomas.

My Lachy was too. Just last week I gave away his collection of Trains and Tracks. It was quite extensive and kept us entertained of hours.
I took him up to the Zig Zag shortly before the fire of 2013, to see the Thomas Tank engine. No Steam was running that day but they let him drive the Rail Motor down to the first switch. His face was lit up like a Christmas Tree, Even though he was on the verge of soiling his undies.
    Cheers, Billy.

In London people used to be employed to collect dog turds to boil to tan leather. Tony Robinson did a show on it in Worst Jobs In The World.

Minus 40 degrees is the same on both the Fahrenheit and Celsius scales.
