    First DIY on my Landy

Just finished a coolant flush on my discovery II.
Took 10min to find those bloody drain plugs on both sides then 20min to take the bloody things off is there any special tools I can make or buy for next time ??
The coolant says it will last for 4years ? means it needs changing in 2 ??

About to flush the breaks in the morning, also will be looking at the front pads as the sensor light on the dash is coming on anybody know what else might be causing the light to come on besides the handbreak as it go off when I put the break down but come on soon after ??

    Thanks for any help
    David

Good stuff David, get into it mate you will save yourself an absolute fortune (note saving money is a good excuse to buy more tools  ).

Just pull the wheels off and check the thickness of the pad left, the sensor is triggered by metal filaments in the pad itself, once the pad wears enough to expose the metal filament it touches the rotor and sets the sensor off, at least that is what i am told. Just check the thickness, if you have enough meet to go another few months then leave them on, thats if you can put up with the light. Matt

    ops:
According to the disc, this should do it.

Release clip and disconnect bottom hose from
    radiator.
Remove drain screw and allow cooling system to
    drain.

Got 9L out of the cooling system. CD says should hold 12L must be 2L stuck in and around the inside heater maybe ??.
Just did my second job brake fluid flush out the old stuff was black. Invested in one of the brake bleading kits. All went smooth except for a bleeding Knuckle after punching the wheel arch trying to undo a Nipple. Never new nipples could be so stubbun

I usually find it easier to put the spanner on the nipple and give it a gentle tap with a hammer just to crack it if it is stubborn.
I dont know how much easier it is to drain a Disco coolant but the Fender is a huge pain. Only got out about 6 litres last time.

Yeah i have the same problem. If i know i am going to be doing a big job, like rebuilding my steering box, i print the necessary pages out, its much easier to look at and quicker to flick through, and it doesnt matter if you get it dirty. Matt
