Shorten the wheel base. Convert it from a 4 seater to a 2 seater. It's been done before. With Minis as well.

I realize it's not ex-mil, but it'd be a pretty good go anywhere recovery vehicle.

When the finance comes though, we'll catch up for dinner at my Albany shack.

    stock - 1976 LEYLAND MOKE

Price is about right. I'm tipping they'd be selling it around eight to nine thousand.

    stock - 1972 MERCEDES-BENZ 280

Yrp, the Merc may be a little overpriced but if it was a 300SEL 6.3, it'd be around the $50k mark.
Pretty sure the engine capacity for the Moke is wrong, California's were all 1275's not 1.1 as listed there. In the early 70's Leyland Oz built some twin engines moke's for evaluation by the military. Don't think they sold any but they looked pretty cool.

    Well spotted but wrong.
The engine capacity is correct being an 1100cc, however, it is not a Californian and not advertised as such.
Californians were either 998cc or 1275cc. They could have been 1100cc, I'll have to check in my books. I know it was a popular motor.
Leyland Australia did not build the Twini Moke, it was BMC, back in the mid 60's, in England. You probably have this confused with the 4WD Moke which had one engine and a prop shaft to a rear diff.

    Just looked.
The 1100 (Australian built 1098cc) was dropped in 1976 and the first Californian was Sept. 1977 (Don't get confused with the 1972 export Moke which is often referred to as a Californian but isn't).
