Those peat bogs can be really deep.

I read about a guy whose car stopped sinking when it was down to the window sills, only because it had come to rest on the nissan that went into the bog first!!

    hi guys

i see you saw the review on the D3 climbing the scotish mountain,,,,it was really good i agree
coming from the uk i'm fortunate enough to have already seen these clips on topgear as i think we were quite in fromt of you guys

i don't know if any of you saw my reply to the top gear thread BUT

just wait until you see top gears review on the rangerover sport!!!!!!

clarkson takes the rangerover sport and puts it up against a challenger tank!! it is pretty awesome and if you think watching the D3 made you want one start saving more money as you will deffinatly want a sport

    Climbing mountains.

I watched it and although I was impressed with the vehicle I wondered how many other tossers would feel they had to go out and do their best to wreck the environment.
Just as bad as the adverts which show 4 x 4s doing mad things which only those with half a brain (most drivers!) would really believe they're capable of when in the hands of ordinary drivers.
I've no arguement with the show really thrashing speed machines on an abandoned airfield or even a motorway when traffics light, but that was irresponsible and is the sort of thing the "environmentalists and lock everything up crowd" use as ammo against us enjoying ourselves both here and in the UK.

Bit over the top AlanTh, they didn’t say whether it was private or public land or if it was protected in any way so don’t worry about it.

The whole thing was more tongue-in-cheek that anything else.

infact i agree with what alan maybe not quite as extremely but i agree with you also

and i think you will find not saying this about the mountain bt alot of topgear's stuff is done on military land like tank trainning grounds etc...

the military do own alot of land in the uk

They probably brought it down by chopper when the camera crew went home. (to save time and damage).

I thought they actually did very little damage and most of us would have at least had a couple of go's getting it out under its own power. Peat being so wet will quickly cover where it had been by itself anyway. There was no real speed or extra hard slippery 4x4ing anyway. The greenies want to stop us looking at our land let alone driving on it. The thing that amazes me is it is not Ok to spin wheels or tackle a hard to get to area but it is acceptable to drop bloody big bombs on heaps of land and wildlife leaving big holes. Oh and it is Ok to dig great big holes in the ground to create wealth. In comparrison we do little damage. Worse still look at the impact on the environment of urban living, producing electricity, forestry etc etc.

    That was a great video.

Gee I wish everytime I've get bogged a bunch of lads appear from nowhere to winch me out.
