new disco owner 5weeks and bad news today

Searched for a disco fo 6months with hlep from ACE. Took 3 to a mechanic for a check over and finally found the one which needed work.
    2000 ES disco
    1)new water housing and pump.
    2)new tyres $360 each.
    3)new back breaks.
4)front door catch needed a spot weld.
    5) Minor service
All came to $1600 which was carried out by the owner before I handed over the cash
    $22500

After reading the fourums changed all the fluid on the car myself once my manual arrived on disk from AULRO.

All going sweet untill this morning when i noticed a green puddle under chantel (thats what i named her) on closer insperction thought it was coming from the water pump housing.
Straight on the phone to the mechanic who said to bring her down.
Up on the hoist out with a touch to find the leak.

    8O 8O 8O
    Head gasket gone
    how much :?: :?:
$1500 not as much as i was expecting so a bit of good news.
Drive home 20km car starting to feel strange pull her over flat tyre. Get home after a change of tyre, cancel my 4wd course on the weekend.
Jump in the shower no hot water inspect the hotwater system need a new one
Great start to the new year
could not find a cry emotion.
    Hoping for some good luck

Sounds like the same old story; as soon as you fix one thing, the next weakest link goes.

Don't worry mate, once you're finished you'll have a top car and you'll know exactly whats been fixed and the quality of repair.

    Hi Welshman!
you dont say if its a V8 or the other,,
guessing by the size of the bill I gather its a rattler though,,,

they say bad luck comes in 3's,,

I thinks thats your full lot for 2006.

I think its great to get them all out of the way early,,

thinking this through though,, Jamo's got it right,, not only have you fixed a lot of common complaints (at someone else expence  ) you've now established some sort of rappor with the mechanic, who will or will not help you in the future.

good Landy Mechanics are like gold and must be appreciated when found,,

and as we all say here at AULRO--

    That's bad luck boyo

But with ownership comes the development of character and the gaining of knowledge

My rubicon was a blown head gasket.

As for the photo's have you checked out the FAQ section?

Do you have an album in our gallery?

If not in the meantime email the photos to me and I will post them for you: eno_atoi@yahoo.com.au
