We have decided to book flights now , can not take the chance of not getting through. I am busy today canceling accom. in Rockhampton & changing dates in Townsville to suit flights. Wasn't looking forward to the drive any way I did the trip north in a ute once a month for the last 20 years of my working life. The Bruce Hwy. got to be close to the most boring Hwy in Australia, especially from Brisbane to Mackay
    Thanks for your advice.

Perhaps up north, but not in the south east, I'll wager. They forecast 100- 250 mm of rain from the ex cyclone in the south east. Flying is the only option.

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Is that up the Gregory development road? Last time there was rain like this [ back in about 2011] the road was under water from the Belyando crossing to Avon Downs turnoff. The only way we knew we were on the road was to keep in the middle of the posts on the side of the road, while nervously watching the fence line on the upstream side of the flood waters, hoping nothing had forced its way through the fence. I know, if it's flooded, forget it, but we were committed, and had to push on.Stopping was not an option. I gained a lot of confidence in my D2 after that.

I am glad we decided to fly , I think there will be a lot more places further south that we won't be able to get through.
Any way thanks for your advice .
Now all I need to do is find some series LR's to look at while I am there .
