    hey drivesafe,

I should know tomorrow if the local dealer ( Trivett ) can help with a demo for a couple of weeks, then the prado is due for replacement in March, so I have a couple of weeks to win the bosses and colleagues over, i just hope it doenst let me down as they have already started with the Land rovers always stuff up and i knew someone who worked for land rover and they said there are only a few good ones the rest are crap etc etc - Though my inspector (boss) is on side he owns a p38A!

Ive got good standing in the squad and generally am furst with the good ideas, but three years - 70,000km is a long time if its a lemon, and ill never hear the end of it.

The D3 will outhandle the Prado any day, anywhere, no question. It has more space in the back and also in the seats. I haven't yet tried an S offroad but suspect it won't be too different from the Prado. The D3 will be safer in a crash. My measurement show there is more space in the cargo area. The D3 doesn't have a reputation for having its transmssion built out of uncooked pasta. There is no Terrain Response to fail on you. The extra payload is very important. The TDV6 is a great engine and with it even the heavy Disco is not a slow vehicle.

Good news landrovermick, and from what I have been hearing, the D3 is proving to be far more reliable that the last few vehicles from LR, including better than the current RR.

Getting a used demo could be a very good thing as well, as any bugs should have been found and fixed so all should be well.

Anyway, best of luck and keep us informed.

    Cheers.

Ron, i think we will all get a chance - but i baggs it on weekends !

I spoke to Trivett today and they dont want to give me their demo, so they are going try and get one from LRA - so well see how that goes - hope this isnt the start of the run around, the sales bloke seemed a bit deflated when I told him it was only one at this stage - lifted a litlle when I told him there was 2 100series and a hilux in my squad - there are seven squads though. we also have soft roaders - tributes, exploreres, Rav4's etc

will see how things pan out
