Wind has picked considerably debris flying everywhere. We had a couple of trees fall down today, in the paddock, hopefully none on the house tonight.

It was thought there would be a huge deluge at around 3pm causing chaos on the roads and public transport.

They say parts of Brissie had 250mm today with 500 at Springwood behind the GC. Winds of 120 kmh. Lots of flooding. 90,000 people without power. Has been very windy here this evening. Slack's Creek flooded.

Can't help thinking some of the media outlets went over the top on the weather approaching S.E. Qld, the way they carried on. Checking out the B.O.M. weather radar told a different story. The last remnant of Debbie had heavy rain, and a maximum wind speed of 43 knots, from the N.E., and was tracking slowly S.E. , it looked obvious the danger would be well gone before high tide. Just as well, all that rain and a 2.4 metre high tide might have been interesting. Still, small consolation for those facing river flooding today. I still have memories of the 1956 floods in Central Qld., stuck in a house on a sheep station, surrounded by water, no food. Survived on damper, while dad took the horse & pack horse to the main house, crossing a couple of creeks, and a river, to get supplies. He turned around and came straight back, nearly lost the pack horse in the river, and was totally exhausted at the end. Must have been some ride. Meantime Mum & I kept ourselves busy sweeping brown snakes off the verandah, & stopping the working dogs eating the litter of kittens, just born. The good old days, didn't see any media, or politicians , back then.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
