my mechanic lectured me over it.. reckons he has seen a few..
I'll ask him for specifics on Thursday if I remember...

Funny, I've seen quite a few of these, and the only rust I have seen has been a: under the battery, b: under the brake booster, and c:. at the site of poor panel repairs. Even the 850,000km EF ex taxi that I drove for around five years, which had had more hits than The Beatles only had rust in the bootlid, and under the battery. We have a BA MkII ATM which has no rust whatsoever.
I'm specifically talking about BA/F, the EF/L is very solid from what I have seen. Worst rust I've seen in an E series is the inner sill, from a seaside Fairlane. I am of the belief there is more bare metal in B series. Don't remember where I got that info though.
And I'd be very interested to hear your Mechanics experiences Incisor!
EDIT: johntins, I'd be keen to see if your BA has any rust on the rad support between bumper and radiator, also the seam in the boot near where the struts attach.. from underneath
BAs, BFs and Territories are renowned for rust.
Good thing I didn't buy a BA, or a BF, or a territory...
So what DID you buy?
Spill the beans!
Had an employer with a early model (2005-ish) territory. They lived next to the ocean, and it was rusted through in 3 years. From what I was told, Ford replaced complete vehicle with a non disclosure agreement. So yeah, take that as it is. You only read what they let you read.
