Well done that fellow. It is indeed a skiver. My wife bought it 40 years ago off an old man who had owned it for a long time. She made a couple of sets of small horse harness with the aid of this tool. I've just brought the blade back to a razor edge for the first time in years. She used it mainly to taper the ends of leather straps, either to join two lengths or to reduce bulk in an end loop.
