It's a box for carrying a spies suicide pill.
Cheers, Billy.

Condoms? Suicide pills? Ok, I accept that there are those among us that would still use one of those, but I have already ruled out a suicide pill. Prophylactics are also hereby ruled out. You need to look far closer to home. What, Tombie excluded, do you find yourself with at the end of the day? Do you want them? And, would someone have wanted one or two a hundred years ago?
Now, I can't say fairer than that, Henry Higgins. Blimey. Although, the bloke who owned this would NEVER have said blimey.
Enough clues. Get on with it. Oi never fort this would go on so.
Get on with it.

A bottle opener
No more clues. They would give it away.
Tell me when you've had enough.... Five votes calls it. I don't want to give it up too easily, as it really isn't that hard...

This is hard for me. I've never been a Gentleman, but I'm not giving up.
Cheers, Billy.

Glad to hear it. Not giving up 'makes you' a gentleman, apparently.
BTW, the Gentleman thing is a clue, although not a very helpful one. Think, if you were a 'swell' these days, and you wanted to pay a cabbie.... Now, go back to those days, and think how you would have done it. That there is a personal clue to you, Billy. But someone else will probably pinch it.

It's surly not a receptacle for coins of the Realm.? wait I think I've seen such a thing used in "Upstairs Downstairs " or "Sherlock Holmes ". Would it be called a coin fob?
Cheers, Billy.
