anyone got an under bonnet picture of the firewall of a late series 2 or early 2a diesel?
like to see the layout of the fuel filter and the resistor etc so i do my shorty the right way round.

Sorry mate... I converted from petrol to diesel and more than that the old Turtle is in storage back in Sydney while I am here in Switzerland so taking photos might be a little problematic
The bulkheads are the same only the position and placement of the fuel filters is the difference. If I am correct, the bulkhead (if it was originqally diesel) should have 2 rivnuts just below the bonnet in line more or less with the manifiolds. That is where the filter would have been. The filter is a standard CAV unit....
Other than that, electricery is slightly different (SII diesels had a different starter switch) and accelerator (using the term loosely) linkage is a little different but by not much. Choke cable is used as engine stop. A SIIA would have a different ignition switch - one that includes glow plugs and is probably easier to get. SIIs had a 'normal' SII electical services/lights switch and the large push-button starter switch was replaced by glow-plug/starter switch key operated one (so 2 keys). All diesels had a starter with a solenoid, unlike SII petrol.
The other way we could do this is if you or Inscisor can send me a pic(s) of the original bulkhead I could probably point out where the filter should go...
