We're still only half way there folks.
To all those who have helped, many, many thanks. To those who haven't got around to it yet, please make the effort, time is quickly running out. Every little bit adds up, $2 here, $5 there adds up to a few hundred in no time.

The raffle tickets are still on sale for as little as $2. There are a number of prizes and it's as quick and simple as paying a household bill with internet banking.

    Mega Raffle, drawn 29/07/17

C'mon people, let's show the world what Aussie kids can do, with a little help from the Aussie Land Rover community.
We all whinge and whine when our youth turn feral. Here we have a fellow Land Rover brother who has given his all, financially and emotionally to bring up a fine young lady, who needs our help. Let's all show our appreciation by getting behind this appeal.
Do the Land Rover community proud by helping Kelsey do Australia proud, on the world stage.

    EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS

Thank-you Land Rover owners of Australia.

    Poor Support

Just pondering the lack of support .I realise some members have given or bought a ticket some need every $ they can muster but surely with the amount of members we can do better.I am thinking it needs more exposure and if anyone posts in another section of the forum, they put in a plug or link in their post it may raise awareness

We have over 5,000 active members, with a relative few already contributing. If only half of the remaining members kicked in two dollars the target would be met.

That couple of bucks can be a raffle ticket or donation, it all ends up at the same place.

Fundraiser by Kelsey Griffith : World Junior Cross Triathlon

We can do this if we all pull together.

OK. Following is the team for the Aussies in Canada. I know I'm playing Scrooge, but I think emotion has overcome common sense here. Where do we draw the line, start this, then every request for funds should be met. Has any effort for a grant from the Government been met? Has the Association the athlete is involved with offered assistance? I know a little of the joys of parenting an athlete, being the father of a swimmer, who did not carry on to a high level, but who worked hard to get as far as she did. Well done to those who donated, but wake up to the fact that AULRO is not a conduit for funds for private causes, at least in my opinion. Just my opinion.

True Bob, there are so many good causes, we can't support them all no matter how much we'd like to.
This effort is close to home though, Kelsey is one of us. Kenley, Kelsey's dad is an active member of the forum , attending trips when possible, that makes her family.
I'm going to do my damnedest to make this happen for a deserving young lady.

You're welcome to your opinion Bob.
First off. I did not ask for all the assistance we've been given. To the people that spearheaded this and to those that have very generously donated thus far Kelsey and I are eternally grateful.
This endeavour is entirely self funded. The government supplies nothing. For three fantastic months last year Kelsey was fortunate enough to be chosen to train with QAS Triathlon squad. Those three months improved her no end. Unfortunately the government cut funding and not only that with new sports now introduced the remaining funds had to be spread even further. As a consequence her coach was let go along with all the other coaches. I think only one was retained. In future Olympics if Australia don't do well in triathlon it could well stem back to junior training being removed.

Kelsey has trained hard, I have sacrificed much, through the absolute generosity of AULRO Kelsey will now definitely be attending and hopefully I will be the one taking her.

Some families are very well off. Supporting a triathlete may come easy to them. Going overseas may be part of there annual ritual.
We are not one of those families. We appreciate all the help that we can get.
And I will say again. To any considering donating, thank you, BUT please only if you can afford it.

Thank you for the well written explanation, without the usual General Chat ranting and raving. My skin is thick enough to play devils advocate , however after reading your story, I will be donating.

It's a pleasure to bump heads with you Ian, at least we can be assured of a mature conversation. After reading Kenley's explanation, I too believe it is a cause worth supporting. How do I donate.
