No. They forage next to the road, eating up to (apparently for a grizzly) 200 000 berries a day. That doesn't sound possible, but why would the sign at Lake Louise lie to me?
This bear was right nest to us, but as I was about to get all Japanesy touristy and get out to pose for a photo next to it a ranger type person arrived to move us on.
Apparently they can be really quick and will easily chase down a runner or even cyclist if they wanted.
I'm a very gullible tourist. I choose to believe everything.

The sports have begun. There are over 2600 competitors, not all have arrived yet.. The opening ceremony and parade of nations was a choking event. So proud to watch Kelsey marching with the rest of the team.
Bagpipes to lead the parade.
Part of the team. I couldn't get them all in and by no means have all arrived.
Young local kids carried the country sign.
The Mexicans and Brazilians had real team spirit and cheered a lot. Aussies don't have the same level of patriotism, but there were a few obligatory boxing Roos.
There was a Mountie there to lead procession. Geez he was a big guy.
Kelsey with a few team mates.

For some reason my photo of the bear won't upload.

"Apparently they can be really quick and will easily chase down a runner or even cyclist if they wanted."
That statement is somewhat sensationalist, to escape a bear you only need to be the second slowest runner in your group.
