Set point retardation? Easy peasy, and truly awesome.

But Ian, I said OptiCruise, not cruise. I watched a bloke sit there, engine running, brakes off, for 15 minutes before I couldn't stand it any longer and took pity on him. I had offered to show him a few things about the truck, but he was an experienced truck driver and he knew what he was doing.... until he didn't.

It's the automatic manual that Scania uses, a bit like Volvo's I-Shift, or Eaton's auto RoadRanger, 12 gears. Manual box, but the computer controls the clutch and the shift. Not bad, but always uses low gears to get going, even when you have 730 HP, 3,500 Nm, and are bobtail. The thing is, there is no gear selector anywhere obvious. There's a thing you twist on the end of the RH stalk behind the wheel. Nobody finds it first time. They think it's the wipers or something.

Oh, that piece of crap, I worked it out alone but I did have to reverse a B dub back down a hill when it couldn't change down quickly enough, and stalled.

AIRC, she drove a Triumph Renown. Possibly something a little closer to your mental age group.
