I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I'm converting my Series 3 to Electric right now, started ordering parts actually .

Not for any green reason, just because I want to study the technology and for the 'project' , and because I can get a very good deal on batteries. Plus I only drive it locally and the short trips are killing it. (And I'm sick of the petrol fumes)

    Im ordering a HPEVS AC51 motor a 60kg 88hp 3phase AC motor , with 144v worth of 180ah LiPoFe4 3.2v cells .

if your interested to know whats inside one of these cells ,

"8 year warranty on the battery pack." My elder bro had a hybrid Lexus for years but flogged it at about 6 years old as he was quoted something like $US8K plus for a new battery pack in Switzerland.
Now that's not going to hurt the smug gits in government or the burueacraps they employ who get them for from the taxpayer, but it's going to upset a few cab drivers (and others) who drive Prius etc. when they're hit with a bill like that.
What a brave new world we're heading towards when government policy is driven by fear mongering from weirdos in green.
By all means stop as much pollution as possible but that should include the biggest polluters on the planet as well not just the gullible western nations taxpayers.

How does that compare with the replacement cost of a TDV6 or TDV8 engine? I seem to read about them blowing up on a regular basis. Plus all the services and oil changes and turbos etc for 10 years.

Its going to happen, like it or not .

Obviously battery technology needs to improve, as well as install inductive charging lanes.

There is a massive expansion of lithium mining in WA to supply lithium for battery production, plus a $100 million plant kicking off in Kwinana to process it,do you have any idea of the staggering amount of pollution that will be produced so all the tree hugggers can drive their ''Green'' vehicles?. More than the 10ltres per 100 my two defenders average,or the 6ltres of engine oil they need replaced twice/three times per year. Pat
