My mobile phone is a phone, not a computer, so I am pretty safe.

I think it is fair to assume that all devices that are capable, are doing this always

I'd put it as most all apps are doing this always.

Check the permissions on most any app you have on a 'device'. Your personal data is being collected, collated and used somehow. It's not just the FB/Google titans.

All of those ....heads know where I am so if they want me they can come and get me.
I don't open adds on anything or respond to numbers that I don't know.
And being an old gerry I pity them having to listen to my mumbled nonsense.

Can't imagine they have enough actual people to listen to everyone so it must be voice recognition for key words.
They can do it and it can be turned off through settings - privacy and revoke permission.
On mine I have it set so it notifies me if an app. is trying to use the settings about me. For example, just now I gave AULRO permission to use my GPS location.

I dont do Facebag or others, I just dont have the time for, what is generally speaking, mindless drivel.
but im glad someone is listening to me, nobody else does.
