    Photobucket

    Hi All,

Has anybody else received a email from Photobucket today.. I just got an email that says "We noticed that you have been using photobucket for 3rd party hosting. Some features on your account have been disabled".

They explain 3rd party hosting as "Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img>tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum,....."

No **** sherlock - that's the only reason why I use photobucket! So that I can show pictures in AULRO/REMLR...

I looked at the "upgrade now" option, figuring "nothing in this life is free".... $399.00 per year thanks very much..

I checked one of my recent posts - and yep, the photo's are no longer displaying....

    Anybody else had this issue?

    Cheers,
    GG

I saw a similar post on another forum where I'm a Moderator. I can't access it at the moment as the site seems to be down.

    Not happened to me, yet.

    4WD Mega Muster April 22/23 2017

Simples, if they pull this stunt on me, I'll move on.
They will lose the advertising revenue they get (and from the amount of ads I get it must be a lot) whenever I log on to their site.

    I use Imgur.
Not only is it a great source of lulz, its really easy to use and edit / post pics.
Plus you can make albums etc.

There is a firefox extension (rehost image) where you can right click on any web based image, and rehost to imgur and have a URL in your clipboard for ctrl+V in a few seconds, with one click... really useful.

Photobucket has always been crap IMO.

Just found the same thing as Grey Ghost, I'm now being held to ransom by Photobucket.

All the pictures in my threads on AULRO are removed and replaced with

They change their terms & conditions and now want me to pay......

I've sent details to the ACCC but not sure what, if anything, they can do.

Time to move on but a couple of long threads have had all the pictures removed. ......

Photobucket IS a scam, at least recently. They are going under, and they probably know it. Picturelife went in the last year. Lot's of free options these days. Yahoo give you 1TB for free, through Flickr. I'm not endorsing it, and I don't use it, but 1TB! Not sure how they treat 3rd part hosting, but maybe worth a look.

I had no end of probs with Photobucket years ago.. Couldn't get my head around the need for it, so got rid of it. I'm not sure why anyone needs it.. Kind of like apps really.. Why do you need an app when the computer/tablet you use can still do the job. Take the pic, save it on a hard drive, and download it onto the forum.. Maybe I'm stuck in my ways, but it works.

I started to use photobucket Ten years ago on this site as it was suppose to be the easiest and best way to post pics.
I used up all my free storage at photo bucket about a year ago and started using Flickr which gives me more storage and better picture quality ect still for nothing.
Photo bucket have not pulled the 400 dollar stunt with me yet......
......It will not work with me as I simply don't have money to spend on the internet, especially for pics I have stored on my own hard drives.
How do you transfer pics from my hard drive on to this site and get the pictures full size.
I tried it once and I think it winds up as a thumb nail or just a link.
I figure you tube may try this stunt one day.
Bye Bye photo bucket and may the rest of the world hate you for enturnity
