My D2 is supposed to be Blue (as on the licence papers) But it is almost Black .
It shows ALL the dirt really well and the Bloody Black carpet is a real PITA to keep clean as well.
Luckily I am Not that "House Proud" and don't wash it every week and it gets its best clean inside and out especially underneath after a trip away![]()

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Clancy's gone to Queensland Rovering, and we don't know where he are
Mines 2005 black and parked outside - clear coat starting to get milky so will crack soon - also black shows up the pinstripes real easy.. will not buy black again ever.
Had a black car - an MX5. Obviously it never went off road but still showed every scratch and all the dirt.
Looked great for about 10 minutes after washing it.
One thing I dont think has been mentioned is that its probably not the safest colour in terms of being seen by other vehicles. Obviously it doesnt make you invisible but everything helps.
Will never have another black car and couldn't think of a worse colour for a 4WD
Go for it.
I have had a Black D2a for approx 10 years. A/C keeps it cool and drops temp fairly quickly after it has been parked in the sun.
Second hand cars! Colour is a low priority, more important things to consider when you are exercising your "buyer be ware" right.
Turn your lights on so others can see you through your Klingon cloak.
All pinstripes come off with a good polish. If they don't then it would be no different with any other colour. If your going to worry about pinstripes so you have to polish it every other day, you should not go 4WDing. You have so much more fun once you accept that pinstripes are just part of your hobby. Eventually even panel damage is just accepted as part of the fun tax.
