    Selling online..

You have to wonder. I have a car for sale on fleabay. I have it there with a reserve, as I don't plan to just give it away. The number of people who ask me " der, wots yer resoiv" beggars belief. If they attend a house auction, do they ask the auctioneer? Then, I get some bloke who wants to swap it for a Chinese quad bike "I've just got sitting here, worth $2000 no worries". This isn't glumtree, this is fleabay. Strewth.

    Dunno how Mario copes.

MGB? Don't sell that on glumtree. There are forums for those.

First 'real' car I ever owned. Bought it from my dad. 1963, 3 bearing crank, one of the first brought into the country, white with red vinyl seats ( yuck ), no heater, no radio, wire wheels with knock ons, two piece hood bars, two 6 volt batteries in the back ( for balance, apparently....) God, I wish I still had it.

I personally cannot see the issue with making the reserve known. It makes it clear the minimum you will accept for the item and in theory, should weed out a lot of the low-ball offers.

Kinda defeats the point though, doesn't it? The reason reserves are held secret is to prevent collusion. Sure, in this case that's not really the issue, but for heaven's sake, if they want the thing let them bid for it. Oh, and I'm not getting 'offers', apart from some crap quad bike some bloke bought when he was 'refreshed'. I'm getting questions. Waste of my time and theirs.

Maybe I should have made it "Buy It Now", but maybe someone will pay more ( says he in hope ).

Anyway, fleabay don't give the option to make it known. I am talking about back door people. Won't help 'em. Let 'em deal in the real world.

I have just started to sell off my rather large coin collection, Mostly on eBay and I too have had several insultingly low offers.
I just either reject them outright or simply ignore them, It's all part of the game and not worth getting upset about.

At least I now know I'm not the only one suffering the from the gumnutters and others who think I'm desperate to sell the Defender so make weird offers.
One loony asked if I'd take his old Nissan and boat in exchange! WTF? I want to sell a decent vehicle not start a junk yard.
Others have made very low offers as "it's not selling mate" and think I'll fall on bended knee and thank them.
Now the Cook has agreed to part with her old Camry shopping trolley looked after by me since we brought it 25 years ago and in good nick. That means I'll probably make the Defender our off road trip vehicle and the D4 the shopping bag carrier.
When I advertise the old car I'll state "No teenage wannabe F1 drivers allowed to test it". Hopefully that'll stop the rest of my hair and teeth falling out....
