Taking my D3 to the snow.

After 4 months of ownership, finally going to get my D3 out and about. Heading to mount Hotham tomorrow for the weekend.
Lots of snow at the moment. I have put some k02 tyres onto 18" rims, will I have issues with snow chains?
Will put up some pics as we go

99% of the time I have not had to or needed to put snow chains on my D3 I do carry them. I have yet to see 4WDs being directed to wear them unlike most cars. Consider Alpine diesel which you can buy at the bottom of the moutain. It does cost a little more. I tend to arrive low on fuel if possible!

Have a ball. The snow this week should give you a great time.

Looking forward to it, in bright tonight, of to Hotham in the morning, will keep an eye for alpine diesel, have half a tank at the moment.
    Thanks for the pointer.
Never realised you needed an additive in the cold, since never had a diesel.
I suppose it is the same as aviation fuel.
Jet A, Jet A1, and Jet B which had an additive to stop it reacting in cold temps.

I think the fuel there will probably already contain the additive.
You may find you can't proceed beyond a certain point unless you are carrying chains - that was our experience there a while back.

Made it up to mount Hotham, what an amazing place. They made us put chains on the back wheels, but removed them as soon as we got to the top. KO2's and D3 great combo in the snow....

    Have you read your handbook? It basically says;

Snow chains can only be fitted to the front wheels, snow chains MUST NOT be fitted to the rear wheels of any vehicle. Unfortunately the handbook does not say why chains MUST NOT be fitted to the rear wheels.

For next time but you got there and that is what counts .

That's unreal, the guys at hoys said that they only fit them to the rear as they do not fit on the front of a d3. However I did experience knocking at normal height, which cleared in off road height. Would like to know why LR say they should only be used on the front

Snow chain fitting for Land Rovers, but interestingly in the second vid see the chains on the rear wheels.
Re the guys at Hotham, maybe they don't know the difference between a Discovery and a Range Rover, novices often call everything a Range Rover
Land Rover, Range Rover snow chain fitting
