That's a broad statement using "Statistics" in my opinion.

Jeep & LR have a handful of models, mostly "Off Road" vehicles, whilst Mazda & the other Asian companies have numerous models. It would appear that this "Survey" takes into account 2wd vehicles that never leave cities, suburbs or highways. Yes, yes, I know a lot of 4bees don't either but how many claims were made due to off road use? I'm sure there would have been more than any Mazda MX5 or Honda Civic!

The only real way to see the facts would be to just target BT50's, Prados, 'cruisers, Patrols etc i.e. the Asian 4x4s & compare that to Landies & Jeeps.

Am I right here or not. Never been good with statistics

That's a misleading survey because most of the vehicles it covers are not 4WDs, but are only used on road, where conditions are easier. A vehicle that gets bashed around the scrub or is used for heavy towing is obviously more likely to have things go wrong than one that is pampered on the school and shopping run.
What we really need to know is how the warranty claims rate on 4WDs compares from the various manufacturers. Jeep and Land Rover are obviously part of that, but what's the warranty rate for Landcruisers, Prados and Hiluxes, for example?

Pretty much why I don't buy 4x4 magazines anymore, the bias is astounding and they are pretty much just big adverts for Toyota and ARB, both overpriced and limited.

Yes, I just let my last subscription lapse. I now just browse the newsagents to see if anything interests me.

Right well here is one of a survey of over 50,000 4wds and SUVs (best I could come up with a short notice).

Yeah, I think Steve and Mick have nailed that there about real world off road and towing testing.

I also agree with Ian too, in that you should C&P and send it off.

Im at a loss as to why LR don't step up and say something anyway,, if I was making a product of any sort and someone was continually bagging it,, I'd be hunting it down and proving otherwise.

Seriously, This is supposed to be better than a D3 or D4?
I don't imagine too many of these will be seen towing an 18' boat up to Mcgowans Island and launching it there

I’ve stood there listening to some Japanese owners telling how they’ve had new engines, gear boxes, wiring, suspension failures, brake issues etc..

And then say that it’s the most reliable vehicle they’ve owned... Am I Too Sensitive?

Only to then turn around and tell me I’m mad driving an unreliable Land Rover.

My common response now is F off ******

Those statistics from UK are also possibly missleading. OK 50K people surveyed. How many were Lexus and or Landcruiser owners. Clearly if you sell a lot of vehicles then the chances are that some will have faults. If you only sell a few chances are the faults will be less. The % figure should be based on the number sold or owned. For example if only 10 sold and everybody happy then 100% if 1 person unhappy then only 90%. As Accountants say (and I am one) Lies, dammed lies and Statistics!

Agreed it's too easy to make stats say whatever you want!
