Just started planning a trip beginning a week or two prior to the Qld school holidays until mid Jan. Me, handbrake and two rug rats plus 17' pop top and series one disco!
I'll keep watching this space and see how things develop.
I am looking forward to the boat trip. (Will be leaving from Sydney and maybe comming back to Qld via Melbourne!)
Cheers
Sean
Pick Me! - Pick me! If the powers that be allow it, could be a goer for me tooI too, will watch this space
Spent 7 years in Tassie - West Coast wind would blow a dog of it's chain any time of the year but magnificent country.
the latest racq mag has a story on touring tassie, it was a bus tour but mentions a few places of interest
hey seqfisho
this post got megs and talkin and at this stage we have committed to a trip to tassie over the xmas period.
the best time for megs to take time off work is from around xmas day on
if others do end up going over and the dates don't work out to travel together we will have to catch up on the island. the main for the trip is to spend xmas with megs's grandparents so we are locked into geelong for xmas at this stage. if my simpson is anything to go gods knows what changes will between now and than, although the dstart date never changed it was only the finish date, route and passengers chopped and changed
21/22 dec depart briz
24 dec arrive geelong
25 xmas day geelong
26 boxing day test at the MCG
27 board the ferry to tassie
28 hobart to catch some of the sydney - hobart boats arriving
28 - 12/13 jan touring tassie
12/13 - 18 geelong/touring coast line etc
19 depart for briz
i will be taking my dad cub camper which we are picking up brand new tomorrow, gee he's a good bloke
tow vehicle umm defender or falcon
megs will not travel to geelong in 30-35+ degree heat with the current performance of the defender air-con so if i cannot improve it we may have to take the falcon, i could fly megs down and back, that would only add a couple of hundred $$$ on to the whole trip
questions????????????????
do we need passports to travel to tassie?
how do i get better performance out of my air-con, will start off by taking it to a air-con mechanic for an assessment?
how far in advance will i need to book the ferry as it going to be peek, i see they do run the ferries day and night during peak?
look forward to bumping into and or traveling with some aulro members along the way
Hi Kelvin,
Tassie in Xmas is still on the cards for us, it just depends on how a few things I have going on in the background turn out.

that said though it has been made blatently obvious that we must stop at the Cadbury's factory or else, so if we're gunna do that then look out Boags and Cascade

Sorry to dampen the chocaholic in you but the Cadbury factory is closed at Christmas for maintenance and they don't run tours during that time.
