Those who go the extra mile

Monday morning my wife and I were heading to Sydney to her specialist. This was fairly urgent and as unforseen thing usually happen when least expected the alternator packed up about 10 minutes south of Nowra. Drove to the radiologists and called NRMA road service. He confirmed the alternator had had it and suggested I drive back a couple of kms to an auto elec shop. They were closed. But Just as I was scratching my head as to what to do next I saw the NRMA depot two doors up the side street. The manager suggested I try a second auto elec shop but it was flat out. Time was marching on and we had to get to Sydney. I went back to the NRMA depot and asked if I could get a loan car as mine had broken down but I was within the 100km distance from home. I explained my plight re specialist for my wife and I just had to get there. He picked up a key from the desk and said to take the car outside for the two days I woild need it. I asked him who owned the car and he said it was his. Boy, am I grateful as my wife had her medications sorted out and is now heading in the right direction again. I take my hat off to this chap as he went the extra mile and helped us. WELL DONE!!

    Hi,
That's a great outcome, and goes a long way towards keeping faith in our fellow man. In this day and age we only seem to hear of the bad things that happen. A good news story can brighten the whole day.
There should be a good news section at the beginning of all news broadcasts.
    Well done that man.

Perhaps a letter to the NRMA CEO giving the guy a decent 'pat on the back' would be appropriate - credit where credit is due.

Indeed yet sadly I caution the mention of the car loan. Only mention how helpful the fellow was.
The new way of policy and procedure with companies these days can see a genuine gesture bastardised for the employee creating potential insurance issues, OHS, PR etc.

In any case I have appreciated hearing the story.
Havent had a lot of encouragement lately.

i will be contacting head office to let them know what transpired. However I was given a private vehicle to use so I cannot see any conflict. I did try a hire car company near the NRMA depot but was unable to leave my car anywhere on their premises.
