    South Australia Historic/Conditional Registration info

The new legislation is in, and all the guys with old Austin's, Triumph's, Morris's, Holden's, Ford's etc at work are telling me how great it is they have 3 years rego for a few hundred bucks.

So far as I can tell, you have to be member of a car club, your car has to be at least 30 years old at the 1st of Jan, and your set!

I haven't been a club member for 4 or 5 years now, but wish to put the 84 and or 86 Rangies onto conditional rego.

Anyone here in SA and a member of a club, LRRSA or any other, walk me through the basics of what hoops to jump through and how its panned out for them? I could ask a few work colleagues, but they all laugh at Rangies.

You're better off going to a club that supports condition rego, SA is a little different to other states when it comes to historic rego.

I have an Kawasaki on historic rego here in NSW, it's really simple to and actually easier to do than normal rego, I had the bike looked at by a club inspector, then took all the paperwork to the state rego office, 15mins later and $97 poorer it was registered under the new 60 day Log Book system for 12mths, $45 for the plate $52 for registration.

Just renewed my rego, $50 and another 60 days

Join or contact the LRRSA, speak to the historic rego officer Ian Turner, he will help u with the conditional rego here in SA. I now have my holden powered s3 on conditional rego. $93 per calender year and 90 days to drive them. Better than the $1200 i was paying for full rego on my s3. Its really easy these days. Just a short id check by Ian and then fill out a form and pay ur rego at a services SA shop. Piece of ****.

    Cheers Rod.

I've been a HVR scheme inspector for the SA P76 club for about 15 years, and the recent changes make everything sooo much better. Join your FHMCSA (LINKY) affiliated club, present your vehicle details to the club's inspector who will issue you with the correct certificate, then take that to Service SA , pay up, return to the club officer to be issued a log book, then you're ready to travel. The club no longer has to inspect the vehicle for compliance and road worthiness, it is now up to the owner to ensure their vehicle is road legal with any modifications engineer approved. The main thing to note is that before you drive the vehicle, you must fill in the log book in advance with a basic description of your trip. If your club membership lapses or your log book isn't correctly filled in, you're essentially driving unregistered. On the whole not a lot of work to save around $750 per annum on a V8's registration costs.
