    Buying parts from the UK

I have recently being buying quite a lot of parts from the UK. I have noticed that most of these arrive in country within 24 hours, particularly from suppliers such as Bearmach (Via DHL). But then it can take up to a week once it clears customs to be delivered either to my po box or home address.

I was wondering if this was just me and where we live (just outside Sydney metro) or do others experience the same delay? Why are domestic deliveries so slow?
    Cheers

It takes nearly a week to get something from Interstate so perhaps they are slowing down the delivery within Australia to make the domestic deliveries look OK'ish.

Just had a delivery from Paddocks and it took 1 week to my door, personally I think that's pretty good.

I’ve ordered parts from the UK on a Thursday and got them Monday morning. Mostly 3 or 4 days. It could be your location that holds it up a couple extra - they may not do daily runs to there? Just a thought.

I am in Brisbane. My WA customers complain that they get parcels from the UK & USA quicker than parcels from the eastern states. My purchasing is mostly in the USA I find from order to receipt is usually about two weeks by USPS flat rate boxes. Small items sent letter rate come quicker. A large flat rate box can hold 20 pounds and costs about US$75. I will not use FedEx or UPS if I can avoid them. Too expensive. UK Royal Mail is also grossly expensive.

I've noticed end of the week orders turn up the quickest. Maybe more flights to put them on?

It's never taken more than 24hrs to have my parts delivered. The joy of being a Roverlord customer. You get a discount for PMing him too.

Certainly takes longer to get from customs to me then from UK to Australia. But I live in Rockhampton. Still get most of my UK ordered parts faster than ones I ordered from Australia. Go figure.

Australia Post takes 4- 6 days to deliver letters across Brisbane. In one case 3 days to go two suburbs. I could walk and hand deliver quicker.
