I ordered some early Disco front mud flaps for the D4 from Rimmer in the UK and received them in a week. Great service at a good price. Product OK as well.

I find it varies on the package, freight company or postage company.
But yes things slow down when it arrives in Australia especially with Australia slow post.
I use freight companies such as TNT or FEDEX when getting from OS eg Head took less than a week to get delivered to my home. Less than 36hrs from supplier to Perth Airport, Cleared customs within 24, but then seemed to sit for over 2 days before being dispatched and another 2 days to be delivered,
Australia Post are hit and miss, with some items being delivered within 2 days of making Australia, some have taken another 2 weeks.
Having said that buying items in Australia is far worse, from the delays in Post to poor service eg an item I ordered recently that was supposed to be 2 days from order took a week for them to even dispatch and another 2 weeks to arrive. Worst I have waited with tracking from Aust Post was 4 weeks from Sydney.
Then the delivery gets even worse. Clearly marked parcel "Do Not Deliver if recipient not home - leave card" was just dumped on the door step and was a sign for item. Lazy Aust Post worker could not be bothered taking 3 more steps to put a package at the door and on the verandah, so left it in the rain on the path. Other items clearly just thrown over the gate, regularly no card left or knock on the door and run eg recently I was standing in the lounge room, not 10 metres from the front door, knock on door, took me a whole few seconds to get to the door and driver was already in the van reversing out, clearly saw me and drove off without delivering parcel.

Re parcels left with notes on them, Clearly marked parcel "Do Not Deliver if recipient not home - leave card" Australia post employees have discretion whether to do with any notes on deliveries as it is not Australia posts policy. The only way to avoid this is to ask the seller and pay the extra for registered , then you will have to go to post office to collect if no one home.
Time delays, 2 weeks from Sydney, probably sent the cheapest mail option, a week to send, seller might be drop shipping from their suppliers. there are always reasons.
Don't always blame the postie in all cases. But yeah there are some slack postie contractors. The ex CEO of Aus post screwed up big time cutting staff and costs so he could get the big bonus payout.
Mario,
I am only commenting on parcels I have with tracking, so can tell the transit time (have regularly had parcels tracked and spend a week sitting in one location or going around the country. Doesnt matter to me where they are shipping from that is irrelevant and can be deceiving if not informed (have had that just this week, supposed to be from Perth to Mandurah, should have been that day or early the next, nearly 3 weeks to turn up and they had decided to send it from Qld instead and another that telling us products had been sent after nearly 4 weeks found out they had not been sent at all - Not LR products). When I can get products from OS quicker than Sydney that speaks for itself. Most retailers are fine and not usually them that are the hold up. I have regularly had next day delivery items not turn up for a week plus from post date. There is practically nowhere in Australia it should be more than a week except for some very remote places. And sorry the majority of my parcels are sign for and our regular deliverer always gets us to sign, but every now and then we get someone that does not care and actually sign the screen themselves and have dealt with just that in the last 12 months.

I guess they made the effort, they will not even attempt to deliver to us. Just the note in the letterbox and we have to drive 15km to the LPO to collect, but they are only open 9-5 Monday to Friday when we have a po box at the nearest lpo which is only 5 km from home is open longer hours 5 and a half days, and we drive past it everyday but can i get Australia post to deliver my parcels there. No way. They are as bad as Telstra most of the time when it comes to customer service. If we can not collect within three days it goes to another even more inconveniently located lpo.
Cheers
