Hail - first world problem but ouch

My D3 looks a bit like a golf ball. Divots all over after a hail storm last night in Doncaster Vic. Seen lots of similar size in NSW and north of there but it was big to extremely big for Melb. Golf ball size hammering for over 5 minutes, Rough quote $17k. 2005 with 360,000 + km. Insured for market value.

No way I give up mine if the insurance says its a write off

I still want to crack 500,000km. The rough look of the dints in every panel might suite my rough bollard anyway. Sunk it, Snowed it, Mountains and mud, rock and sand. Insurance market value? My value might be a lot more.

Thousands of poor sods in the same problem with me I guess. Luckily I do not see it as a parting moment.

If your lucky they’ll write it off (repairable) pay you out minus the price to purchase it back. You should make a few dollars out of. That’s what I did to my hail damaged defender.

Sad to hear ND,, both our cars copped a bit, but nothing like that. Leeanne's having her Kuga checked out a bit later, and depending on that we'll make a decision as to what we do with the D4.

Yep, a mate did that with his Ute a couple of years back. Hail damage is a repairable write off, just need a VASS certificate here in Vic with a RWC to reregister it which is a bit of faffing about but not hard.

    Sad to hear ND.

I had a lucky escape i think.... as i was pulling into the drive i heard a loud crack like a rock hitting the car....saw a few more hit the ground in the front yard. My car doesn't fit under my car port....so I pushed the nose under the veranda and my Rhino rack protected the rest....

Pity the same can't be said for the daughters Mazda 2..... by the time I grabbed a sleeping bag and tried to get it over her car out of the road.... I was just wet, bruised and wasting my time ....

While there were much larger hale stones around..... these guys were big enough to hurt...

They tried to write off my old D1 when we had they big hail storm many years ago, I asked them to repair it instead, dentaway I think did it, there where hundreds of dents but they managed to get them all out and she looked brand new again. If you buy and drive a hail damaged car then check with insurance companies as they may not cover you as the car has existing damage.

This. Because even if you have a crash they'll argue that they don't owe you the full cost of a panel because it was already damaged. O r even not cover you at all or ANY panel damage. So ye, CHECK and get it in writing.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
