I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Thanks for putting the link up Bob. For me it's quite exciting to see the Td5 achieve this milage.

I have always been a little sceptical about the cylinder bores that are technically not able to be bored out.

Of course he was doing long distance runs, which is a lot better than stop start driving around town.

Yeah, my D2 has over 400,000 km's on the clock, and I have been seriously considering updating to a Mahindra [ seriously]. But I might just take out the top RACQ roadside care instead. I think I have invested far too much blood sweat and tears to get rid of the old girl now. She might be dinged and rough around the edges, but she hasn't let me down , [ lately, anyway]

    ..

I imagine that that is the same as RACV Total Care? DO IT. I have, in the last two days, had two flat top tows of around 50k each, and a $78 cab fare, no questions asked. It covers anything I drive ( not quite: drew the line at the B-Double, commercial vehicles not covered it seems ), it covers a nominated car no matter who is driving it. Best $200 odd I have ever spent. My car would still be in the emergency lane of the Monash, hazard lights getting weaker, if I didn't have it. Absolute no brainer in my view.

To put it in perspective: I didn't think that I would be covered for the second tow, from the workshop to home, so I rang around. Best price I got was $225 + GST. That is a year's membership in ONE tow, with change.

I have RACQ ultra care, good as well, have it on the D4,but it also covers any vehicle i am in,including the work vans.

Last weekend was the first biggy, the Deefer breaks an input shaft,250KM from my Indie.

Flat bed all the way on Sunday, no charge.

Back to the high mileage TD5.The engines are fantastic,if serviced with correct oils, etc, properly.
But its all the other stuff hanging off the engine that dies.
I bet some of those hanging off things have been replaced numerous times.

AANT (NT) is the same. If you live in NSW you are screwed. NRMA will only do the car (rego number) so if you are a three car family you need three memberships. So glad I don't live there any more.
