A lot of them are spoofed caller ID. I've called the odd mobile number back and got a very perplexed person who sounded nothing like an overseas call center.

After about the fifteenth call answered without speaking and with nobody on the end I had had enough and and answered Yes. The well spoken sub-continental gentleman then gave me the spiel about how my NBN and internet service was about to be cut off and could I supply details so that he could arrange for this not to occur. I played dumb like an old pensioner and he stated that he was there to help. I strung him along for a few minutes without divulging any details by which time I think he woke to the fact that I was not playing his game. He then called me a Bloody Bastard and hung up.
I now block all the calls from numbers I don't know now but I couldn't resist having a bit of fun with that bloke
I get lots of calls from scammers concerning the Australian Govt Solar guarantee. Now I can understand if these are from Aust Companies trying to sell their goods but these calls have all the hallmarks of international scammers using overseas call centres - invariably they hang up when I tell them that they do not need to know whether I have solar panels or not.
No sure what the actual scam is but my guess is they try to sign me up over the phone with a deposit which I then loose. There is a lot online about being cautious signing up for panels but I cannot find anything on Mumbai based scams concerning Solar Panels.
Any clues.

I did much the same recently, he didn't swear at me but I have been receiving a lot of dodgy texts ever since.
If you regularly get calls and there is nobody on the line it's often automatic dialing from a call centre, if they get through to you but nobody is available their end it hangs up.
They always call from very noisy call centres, I now ask them which part of India they are calling from and they typically hang up.
If you have some time and can string them along for a while it might save some poor sucker somewhere from getting scammed. Just be aware that they will probably then sell your number on to other scammers.....

Hi,
I sometimes (very politely, as from a wise old man to a student) point out to them, as they have my name, phone and address, that they have not done their market research and are not doing their employer a favour by annoying me with unwanted phone calls, when a quick Google map search on my address would reveal a roof packed with solar panels.
Other times I am not so polite!
Cheers
My wife get's these Solar Panel Guys all the time . There is a guy going on line to these company's that supply between 5 & 10 quotes for solar, & all the requests are from the same guy J.D. are his initial & he has given them all my wife's mobile number. Any way after a year & a half of the calls almost every week he must have run out of solar company's & last week the calls started from company's that buy cars 7 the requests are from J.D. I know people will say to just change the number but my wife's anxiety wont allow her to do that . All the calls she gets from these company's are from interstate so if it is not a local number she dose not answer then if she notices they are interstate numbers.
The next solar company that rings up, l'm going to tell the sun doesn't shine here so l had to install nuclear with a flux compacitor booster as I mine bitcoins and all other systems couldn't cope.
