Mine had the same carpet too('79).
I think it was about 73/74-ish when they finalised metrication so many speedos got them at about that time .. at least for the Rover vehicles I had.
I had plenty of P6B's, basically one of every year from 68 to about 74, except '70.
I remember the 73 had Miles, but the '74 had Km but with graduated Mile markings too.

Is that top damper mount right? I recall when I started out on Land Rovers in the late '80s that there was a split pin arrangement to hold the damper in place & was quite relieved when the 'normal' nut was introduced.

The calipers are actually that colour, it's as clean as the rest of it.

There has to be an interesting human story behind this car. Maybe it belonged to an old gentleman that has now passed away. If it has not been restored, then it must of spent most of it's life under cover, and then only driving on sealed roads. The original "only driven by old lady on Sunday"!
First time I did mine I was trying to get the pin through the inner hole.......... virtually impossible.
Since read that the split pin is meant to go in the outer hole and the whole top bush arrangement supposed to have a bit of slop in it.
The towbar on that 74 is the same LR one I have on my 74. Nice compact 4,000 kg unit but not 74 vintage.
cheers, DL
