A D3/4 would have a weight advantage but sometimes that may not be enough, looking at the concrete the grip lines look too far apart to provide any useful traction.

With all the money the government is raking in via boat licences, Boat trailer licences, Fishing licences and the various taxes imposed on boating and fishing gear we should expect to have Good quality all weather/all tide boat ramps for our money, Sadly this isn't the case.
As with all boat ramps it pays to check them out Before you back up your pride and joy Especially if you are unfamiliar with them.
Mud/silt seaweed and algae can turn many a boat ramp into an ice skating rink also many boat ramps at low tide have a sudden drop off at the end of them as well.
Old Mate with the BMW was obviously in a hurry to get his jet ski in the water and paid the price.

A former work mate lost his shorty hard top Land Cruiser at a Redlands Shire ramp. He backed down to recover the boat, in gear and handbrake on. As the weight of the boat came onto the trailer it lifted the front of the trailer and the rear of the Toyo and the lot started to slide downhill on the greasy ramp. In his panic to get in the car and brake it, he slipped over on the greasy surface (thongs) and the whole rig slid into the water. His empathetic caring colleagues found a periscope from a scout car in the local junk shop and gift wrapped it and left it on his desk. Insurance did pay out and he bought a repossessed Musso. Which was naturally christened "the U-boat". We all wanted to know when he was going boating again so we could come and watch.
