There are maybe a couple of freak cold snaps each year. This one was caused by clear skies and stiff winds that wafted the sun's warmth away when the sun sets. Quite unseasonal. By 10,00 am that 3 degrees would have been 20-21. Doesn't stay cold for long here. It was 3 also at Coolangatta which was unprecedented. Not in living memory.

Been min. of 11-12 at my place and max. 21-28. Big bonus here unlike the frozen state is that it doesn't **** down freezing rain all winter and sleet and snow are unknown.

I mowed the lawns. They were getting a bit long with all this rain and sunshine.

No, I don't like snow at all. I spent a winter on a training course in Omaha, Nebraska. Anyone who likes snow has a vacuum instead of a brain.

Funny, I say the same thing about people who like the cancer causing sunshine.

Mick, go up into the snow belt, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, the Dakotas and ask the locals who likes snow. They will tell you that tourists and winter sports crazies like snow. Everyone else hates it. It interferes with all aspects of life. I was there in Omaha from early November to Christmas and didn't get the worst of it. The locals told me that the real winter is January and February. I replied "you mean it gets worse than this?" The Missouri River had started to ice over. A year and a bit later I was three weeks in Milwaukee at the Allis plant in "real winter". Lake Michigan was frozen over and the ferry to Michigan had been closed for the winter.A guy from the Indiana Roads Dept. told me they spend half the year clearing ice and snow and finding somewhere to dump it and the other half is spent repairing frost damage.

I had to buy a full outfit of real winter clothing and then fought a battle with my Australian employer to be reimbursed for "private purchases." I gave up on the Sydney accountants and simply padded my expenses until I had enough back. Almost all of the schmutter I never wore again.

Is that anywhere near Buller? The places you mention I can't find in Victoria.
You're not getting a little confused, are you? Having trouble differentiating between Victoria and America?

We were discussing snow not geography. Anyone who likes snow has never lived in real snow.

Bit of a sweeping generalisation don't you think? A bit like 'When a Victorian moves to Queensland, the IQ of both States goes up'...

I have friends that live in Boston and love living there - you saying they don't live in the real snow in that area? Also have friends in Minnesota- they've travelled all around the world and ended up back there. That not real snow country? Or is my statement above correct?
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I thought we were comparing dry, sunny Queensland to Victoria with the perfect weather.
You are the one who decided to include America.
