How much do the sheep and goats weigh? What weight of cargo is the boat licensed to carry?
Subtracting the weight of the animals from the licensed carrying capacity of the boat gives the maximum allowable weight of the crew.
Obtain the typical number of crew required for the size of boat and divide into the excess weight capacity of the boat.
Compare that to the average weight per age of Chinese males (assuming the captain is male) gives the likely number of crew.
Assume the captain is a typical weight for age.
