Abba, Bucks Fizz, Brotherhood of Man, Johnny Logan, Celine Dion, Lena, Loreen and many others would challenge that assertion. Just because Eurovision artists aren't being played here on Nova doesn't mean they aren't spectacularly successful in their home markets. I actually like it when established artists from other countries I've never heard of compete then I discover their regular body of work. There is often a big difference between what they present at Eurovision to fit into the 3 minute, backing track and live vocals format and what they produce generally.

Then there's the almost winners like Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John, Katrina and the Waves - the list goes on. Eurovision is a pretty reliable launching pad for a lot of artists and more recently it is a next step for a lot of Idol or X-Factor winners in Europe.

    Yeah, it was the UK.
    YouTube
And the song was very popular when it was released charting at No. 11 in both the UK & Australia according to Wikipedia.

But the UK have had some recent shockers with trying to use has-been big names such as Engelbert Humperdink and Bonnie Tyler.

Yes, my normal listening option, but Eurovision is my annual music holiday.
