Seasonal road closures
Looks like most of them are after the June long weekend around pinnibar - map35g. Davies plains has been officially closed for most, if not all summer.

Hey folks,
I am planning a trip up to the VIC high country in the middle of winter but i'm worried that most of the tracks will be shut for the winter.
Does anyone know which tracks/areas/attractions are open through the winter and don't get closed up? I am not specifically looking for hardcore 4WD tracks this trip, i just want the chance to see snow!
Long Plain, Davies Plain, Mt Pinnibar?
Thanks!

Yikes! Looking at those maps almost everywhere is closed...
I have read of people going to most of those places in winter, so i guess they were doing so illegally...?
So, I am not familiar with all the attractions in the high country as i am from WA - is there anywhere else nice to drive and camp that isn't closed?
Yes the Davies Plain Track has been closed between Davies Plain Hut and Buckwong Creek. Last time I was there the gate was vandalised at Buckwong Ck and people were ignoring the very clear closure signage (I even noticed some LR drivers tripping down from the recent Cooma LR anniversary also ignoring the closure). You can still get to Davies Plain Hut from the south.
In general though, there are gates and these are closed during the seasonal closures. There is good signage about this, unless vandalised, along the tracks in national parks. If you want snow though, there are state forests and other remote areas that offer that experience.
Mt Selma, Mt Terrible - anywhere above 1400m. Which are of Vic are you heading too?
My experience is mainly in the north of Alpine National Park where you are sometimes lucky from now on high up before the gates close.
Thanks!
We will be based around Corryong, which is why i was looking at places close to there.
I was over there in the Landy during summer exploring here there and everywhere all around Kosciusko NP and surrounds. I would love to see the same places in winter but they look to be closed.
We haven't been through the high country closer to Melbourne, which looks like where most people go.
Might not have too many options then...
The Queen's Birthday weekend is always the official opening of the snow season in Vic, and all the resort areas become controlled by the ARC, or whatever it's called now, at that time. Road closures and things like the mandatory carrying of chains are dictated by that date. Of course, Parks have their own agenda as to road closures outside of that.
