This is exactly what im talking about. Nose digs in, car starts to pitch forward.

Good to hear your opinion guys. Gunshot worries me, that is pretty much the summary. Unfortunately a lot of people who do gunshot have kids in the car, making the potential tragedy even worse. A vehicle roll over into water with no means of escape.

Well I certainly would not attempt anything like that when away touring, and I certainly wouldnt be attempting it in my everyday 4wd even if out for a 4wd close to home.

Same, it really depends on your experience, skill and how stupid you are or aren't when driving it. It does look really scary, and it is scary, but how you do it has a big factor on the risk. 4WDs are generally capable of it assuming they have the clearance and aren't too short or tall. All in our group drove Gunshot with no damage.

I wonder if the blokes giving directions to the drivers in those vids realise they could be sued by the insurers of those vehicles if the insurance companies got hold of those vids and told a court the damage was caused by the drivers following their directions?

Sued for helping out....you sure?? I think the owner as it was his decision to drive the vertical drop.

Either way I see no point in driving it....especially when it’s that vertical your front bar stop you driving it

Tuff truck had a similar obstacle a few years ago- a 2m near vertical descent into a 1m deep puddle. A few cars pitched forward, and it was only for a few driver's ability to give it the loud pedal that they didn't end up on their lid in the mud. It would not be quick getting out of a 5point harness in a caged buggy while underwater.

If you give directions to a motorist who follows those distinctions and it ends badly, then in theory you can be held liable. Whether it actually happens depends on a lot of factors of course.

Is that the law according to Mick, or can you show us some proof?

Well, at the moment it's 'send in the clowns' . Sending in the dozer to sort it before some one is seriously hurt/killed makes good sense to me. Is the OTT a gazetted road ?, someones got to be responsible for it. Qld rakes in a hell of a lot of dollars from Cape York travelers, perhaps it's time to spend a bit ?

It certainly didn't look like this when I took the old SWB IIA up there in 1979 The term 'gunshot' appears to be a more 'modern' affectation as I don't recall the term from my Cape York trip, though I vividly recall kamikaze tour operators in their modified blitz wagons barreling through forcing all and sundry off the track.
