    ARB - Awesome Service

Given i haven’t had a lot to do with ARB, the bits and pieces I have purchased have stood the test....yep even the twin lockers that were fitted to my old defer....

When I converted the rear suspension on my current defer to air suspension I took the punt on installing an ARB Twin Compressor.

12 or so months on compressors fails to proceed, fan was running, pressure switch closed but compressors wouldn’t start.

Buggered if I could see anything obvious so I dropped it into ARB. It took a couple of days longer than they said.....

Pick it up today, they replaced both relays as the terminals were corroded....

I asked how much to I owe.....they said nothing and we’re happy to help out.

Fingers crossed it’s all good going forward.

good service, on the other hand spare parts for their products can be a no no. A friend has an ARB roof rack and wanted to buy the legs so he could use it on another land rover, They refused to sell just the legs, only come with a new rack they told him.

I have found the powder coating on their bars and racks to be very poor quality.

In fact, i would prefer to use another brand next time.

My old D1 had an ARB bar and the coating was fine. That was almost 10yrs ago now though was yours recent?

    2012 D4,bar,not the greatest,rust around the edges.
    D2 2001,surface rust,just generally poorly done.
D2a 2004,poorly done, powder coating peeled off bash plate under bar.
    Defender,2009,bar,rack,towbar,poorly done.

ARB replaced the towbar, but the second one was not much better.

Had the Defender bar and rack sand blasted and redone by APT,the job was ten times better than the original coating.

Maybe we have been unlucky, and should have complained to ARb,but didn't.
I recently looked at a guys Ironman bar that was a good few yrs old and the powder coating was very good, way better than my D4's ARB bar.

Just curious as I'd heard that ARB moved some manufacturing offshore a few years ago and was wondering if your products were affected.

Maybe I got lucky! ARB - Awesome Service

I don’t think so Paul, my experiences have been the same. The bar on my D3 was appalling and now the Defender bar is going the same way. Pity, because they are obviously well engineered.

I don’t recall earlier ones being like that, but maybe they were.

    Cheers,
    Jon

Maybe if we all complained to them rather than each other they may address the issue. mmm?

Thanks. I'd heard China but didn't look into it.
