There were a long way in therefore one would assume they had enough light power to get themselves back out.
I did a bit of caving on the way to Cooma 70th, public access caves with warning signs and minimum equipment......I packed spare light for each of us and spare batteries and some food and water first aid kit and a PLB. The cave was very popular, some were way more prepared than us and other way less, in fact we talked an old couple out of entering the cave. We got to the end, there is an option to continue with scuba gear.

I think the coach has done an admirable job of keeping everyone in apparently good spirits whilst in a dodgy situation and derseves a salute, not finger pointing.
The coach studied for 12 years to be a Bhuddist Monk. He led the boys in meditation , especially in the days before they were found. Now is not the time for finger pointing, now is the time for celebration, and heart felt thanks for all those involved in the rescue. The Thai people will make their judgement , every one else should zipp up and butt out. And while I am not going to jump on the band wagon , like some media, the Thai head of the rescue has given special praise to the Australian Doctor. Not that he would claim to have done any more than anyone else. What a wonderful result. B.Z., and thank goodness the Thai rain God was kind.

Yes. Well done and top effort to all those who worked so diligently to rescue these young lads and their coach.

Nothing to do with god that the kids got out - just good old practice and forethought.
Clearing a mask is pretty easy with a very small amount of practice. They were stuck in that cave for ages, I am sure they had quite a bit of practice before going in, and the choke points would have been a bit easier for the kids as they didn't have the gear on them, just their breather.
I am in no way being flippant about it, but a lot of them had been through the cave before (albeit it when dry), and with a little training they will be calm about breathing underwater - even doing it without a mask. So the actual tight spaces wouldn't have been the issue, it would have been dealing with the breathing and trying to ensure the kids don't panic.
That is what the practice is for - but the divers having to deal with it all deserve all the praise they get, don't cheapen what they have done by saying god did it for them.
