The boys are on the way out

Hah, as a caver and climber I dont understand the ropes thing. Some of the things I have done with ropes and are perfectly safe to use with no fraying leads me to believe that in a bit of water for a while they will be fine.

And I understand the 1/3 rule - it's not all underwater and they would have spare tanks dropped off along the way.

If you plan ahead a lot of the issues you are bringing up are minimised, and there is no reason why they wouldn't have done that. It's hardly like they rushed the rescue to the point safety during the rescue was much greater than a planned dive.

Again, I am not saying what they did doesn't deserve praise, just hardly miracle worthy as a tag line.

None of the Australian diving team wanted to be identified, by the media. No big noting there, no point scoring, just get the job done . They were part of a hard working team, all rescuers had job to do, and did it well.

In Australia we had a major cave rescue due to a flash flood into the Pannikin Plains system on the Nullarbor Plains back in 1988. There have been some other largish cave rescues in Australia but not at the scale of what we have just seen in Thailand's Tham Luang cave over the last fortnight.

I disagree,..BIGTIME.
Aussies are the best in the world for helping ANYONE.
If this scenario had occurred in Aussie, ya'd have seen that,....but I don't wanna concentrate on Aussie, but "Aussies" in general, FULL STOP, are the best in the world in these circumstances,...& I ain't a full blown Aussie, I'm a "Ten Pound Pom".

I wasn't saying Aussies would not help. My personal opinion is that yes, Aussie would step up and help. Volunteerism is still alive and well in Australia, particularly in rural areas. I think though that the level of community support there in Thailand was helped by the fact that many villages and lots of persons were close by. In Australia bush searches are often well away from populated areas and we so usually don't see that level of help. It was just so wonderful to see such dedication by so many.

You have that right. Bush searches are in the bush. [smilebigeye] My experience is that when needed, communities come together, and do what they can. But then , I am from QLD. It's in our genes. [wink11]

The last word belongs to the Thai Navy Seals. They tell how close it was to disaster, even losing contact with their dive teams in the cave for 23 hours. But, more importantly, regardless of race or religion, and not speaking the same language , the international team worked together seamlessly, to create the outcome. There's a message there .

The rearranged music also has the lyrics modified to reflect the event, with lighting to simulate the darkness inside the cave, and later turning bright to simulate the successful rescue.
