Plastic bag ban, but coles does a whimp back flip

With every one banning plastic once use bags, Coles went along with it but with customer back lash they did a back flip.
Pretty whimpy me thinks. bit like when self serve fuel came in, people build a bridge and got over it. Are plastic bags so crucial?
I must admit our syupermarket bags were used more than once, they were good to fill with poo for disposal, now to find a alternative

Plastic bag ban, but coles does a whimp back flip

Agree, I cannot remember the last time I brought a plastic bag for rubbish. The single use bag was always a double use bag in our household.......now we are buying plastic bags to use once, go figure.

Where's the innovation? It merely shifts the responsibility from the retailer to the consumer, with a profit gain for the retailer. And, the makers of bin liner bags, of course. My local provided degradable bags, but none of the "new" bags are. Do you see this as an improvement? Strange idea of innovation, IMV.

Yes, everyone sees straight through it as the token gesture it always was. With so much plastic packaging in the supermarkets and the single use purchase it inevitably leads to its a farce.

Ban all plastic packaging and we might be getting somewhere. We try to minimize by buying bulk and fresh but it’s only a battle a quarter won.

Innovative because they are trying to do something to improve the environment, and not crying their eyes out at having to pay 15c for a bag if they are too lazy to do something about it themselves. A bit like here in SA...We put reusable bags in our car and take them to the shops....oh the hardship, I don't know how we have gone through this torture for all of these years!!!

I agree, way too much plastic packaging on everything in shops. And it should all be reduced. As far as the shopping bags go, I can only attest to personal experience here in SA...we have less plastic bags at home. Yes we still have plastic bags, but we have less. And in my view one less is a win.

Just something new to get used to. I like the idea of no plastic bags. Seems very wasteful.
Hopefully a totally biodegradable type replaces them or some sort of better bags rather than customers bringing bags.

I get annoyed when the wife leaves her shopping bags in my car for the next shopping run.
Irritates the hell out of me Floor well on passenger side full of colorful bags. Its just not the Disco way. That space is for beer and tools.
