Thread: Diesel heaters for caravans

Thanks,any chance of a couple of pics?
I want to mount at front of van in a cupboard, only problem now is from underneath the gas pipe and water is running along there, thinking I may just have to move them to fit unit where I want.also then exhaust would be under van as pipe not long enough to make it to side, so I could just extend exhaust si it makes to side of van.
Other spot would be under the bed, I'm bit worried about the noise from unit thou.
I've created more questions and pondering than I wanted lol oh well.
I have an extra water tank under floor that makes mounting under seating no good either.

I cut 2 holes with a holesaw but then cut between them with a jigsaw so ended up with one large slot - made it a bit easier to position and remember the exhaust gets VERY hot so needs plenty of clearance around it to any timber flooring.

The exhaust does not have to exit out the side of the van .
Mine finishers underneath pointing towards the ground and is not a issue .
My heater is under the bed the noise is not bad at all unless you have i flat out
If you want pics of underneath i could get a couple for you .

Can take pics next weekend as the van is down the in-laws at the moment sorry. Exhaust doesn’t need to go out the side - mine runs to around the middle of the van and points downwards to the ground there no dramas. I have mine under a seat up the front in the club lounge. I don’t run mine overnight so I wouldn’t have an issue with it under the bed, but they don’t make too much noise anyway, but that’s also too far from where I sit in mine, so I put it close to where I’ll use it most. You don’t need much room underneath - can you take a pic of where you want to put it, and of what’s underneath - maybe able to see if it will work or not based on that.

Ok I would like to put it in right cupboard
Underneath pic shows has pipe and water pipe, there is a ply wall in between the 2 cupboards I'm thinking of cutting an arch out of this and unit would sit between both cupboards.
Reason I'm thinking here is then outlet would go into cupboard where water pump is facing toward rear of van, which is where bed is.
Other options are under seat by door then outlet would face front cupboard, or under seat facing fridge.
Not sure if outlet facing cupboard or fridge as clearance is only about 2.5 foot.
Another thought was under seat next to wheel arch, outlet would face rear of van but blow down side of bed.
It all gets confusing.
It's a pop too so insulation isn't great.
Would it matter greatly where outlet was in regard to heating the van?
Also does the unit bolt to that alloy plate then bolt to floor?

A couple of pics for your musings

Mine is a pop top but the heater still works bloody great .

If you look in my pics you will see the unit bolts to the base plate and then i just screwed the plate to the floor of the van

My outlet faces down the length of the van as they tend to belt the heat out .

Chris you might want to adjust that first bend as the exhaust comes out of the floor so that the exhaust is continuously running downhill from the heater to the end past the muffler to ensure that there is no condensate buildup in the exhaust, any bends that can trap moisture will do so and eventually stop the heater starting and working.
