Help required - written off vehicles, Victoria, uneconomical to repair

My Territory, I have just been advised, will be written off.
    Uneconomical to repair.

Bugger all damage. I'll post up pictures soon.

Has anyone had experience in getting cars off the WOVR register in Victoria?
    What was the process?
I would like to emphasise, it is a repairable write off, not a statutory write off.

Talk to your insurance company .... see if you can get them to leave it off the WOVR. Shannons probably will if you request it for sure.

Generally involves an engineering report, and a physical inspection by Vicroads (to prevent re-birthing with a stolen one - probably what DAMINKs mate was doing).
I've done it in Qld, no problems, but you have to be prepared to deal with beaurocratic seat-polishers.
Many otherwise serviceable vehicles are written off, simply because of a bean-counters' idea of "value".

Not an Engineering report but a VASS is required, then a RWC on top of that - VASS was $650 last time I did this. They check to ensure the repairs have been done properly and that it isn't a rebirth. PITA - we had a perfectly good vehicle written off because the bumper was stuffed - I repaired it myself, got the VASS and RWC and re registered it.

Be aware that they may try and take the vehicle straight off you - don't let them or it will be gone forever. It's your car until you sign it over - don't sign anything. There are a lot of dodgy assessors try and get their hands on perfectly good vehicles like this.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Hell yea good business, then they do a bodgy on it, spray it and sell it on HP to some poor sap for 5x the price.

It only looks like minor damage to a clean vehicle that you took a while to find.
Have a talk to SSmith as he went through this with his current ride.

When I did it, Main Roads (as they were back then) had a list of "approved" engineers - you went to one of them to get the report. Was around $300 - 350 by memory. That was a while ago, though!

Thankyou for your input but, "Main Roads", have no authority in Victoria.
