    Belt replacement on Chinese lathe

I have this Chinese metal lathe with a four foot bed. It has V drive belts except when in back gear. These belts are pretty frayed now and need replaceing. I dont fancy removing all the shafts and spindle bearings to do this. Has anyone used those link type belts I remember from years back. In fact are they still made?
I see splicing flat belts on Utube but not much on V belts.
Did some more searching. Found these. Might be worth a go.

Brammer belting is what you are looking for.
Still available but no personal experience of using it.

There are several brands, google "link V belts" but most look as if they come from the same place. Gates also do a version as well.
Unless your starting up a high speed load with a lot of weight, like a 6ft fan for a burner then they are pretty good.
From my experience the units without the metal interlocking pins seem perform better. They don't like to be over-tensioned though.
I'd reckon they would work OK on a small lathe.

You can see thats a lot of work to replace the belts. Not a lot of HP involved so I think I will try one of those link belts and be a guinea pig.

One of the joinable alternatives that others have mentioned above is the usually accepted way to go.

Ive seen that same problem discussed on some FaceBook Lathe & Milling groups I was in and the Link belts are put into service with no issues at all.

Since I put an AC motor & VFD I rarely , no I never change my belt position anymore, Just engage the back gear when I do thread cutting.

Thanks all. Read through that link so going to give the Fenner T link a go. Buy through Blackwoods.
My thank button does not work with my Chrome nor does it show some avatars.
I will let you all know how it goes when I get it on.
I have to rebarrel and chamber my wifes 6.5-284 again. Its about the 5th barrel now. If I dont get it done I will be in the doghouse. I have been hoping she would be satisfied with her 6BR but its been getting knocked around at the longer ranges in this wind we are getting.
