Even on a dirt bike on private property the risk for injury like burns is just as high.
While visiting my daughter in hospital when she was 4 we met a teenager that was riding in shorts and thongs on a farm that hit a tree with such force that he degloved his right leg, if you look that up it means that all the flesh from his leg was pulled off the bone.
Hopefully they were able to save his leg but we didnt see him again to find out.
Its sheer stupidity to ride without proper gear and is now an offence to do so.
An offence to not wear the proper gear?
    Beyond helmets?

Weird world we live in. Someone can willingly and freely jump out of a plane. Putting themselves in a **** tone of potential risk.
Yet if we dont wear the correct safety approved helmet we get pinged........

I scratch my noodle some days i tells ya.

One could draw a parallel between your mates attitude of "my lane, get out" your own regarding safety gear. Both have a degree of arrogance towards things that are beyond your control.

I do respect your right to do what you like though.

I still see plenty of old cars on the roads....drivers would just as bad off in a major accident as the biker would.

Just thinking a S1 rag top doing 80km/hr (assuming they can get to 80?) going off the road and and rolling.....what should the occupants be wearing??

Only an offence in Victoria i believe. Taking on the Sudanese crime gangs was too hard so they went the route of forcing motorcyclists to wear protective gear instead.

    I dont agree at all.

To be arrogant towards cars, thats like life ending dangerous.

To be arrogant about if you wear the specified gear is not.

I dont know the statistics but imagine there is not many motorcycle road deaths where the rider would have lived had he/she worn different attire.

I can guarantee you there are loads of road deaths where riders lack skill or are over confident.

Yeah you might be right. I do remember they were trying to bring some stupid law in a while back, not sure if it passed or not.

Me personally, I ride in whatever i want. I always wear a helmet and gloves, but 9/10 times i wear a hoody and jeans and work boots. Rare that i actually put full protective gear on. I ride a GSXR1000 and a KTM motard.

Gixxer barely gets a run these days, I picked a 15' 690 SMC/R a few years back and tend to have more fun being a hooligan on that haha. Mine is an original k1 and its neat as a pin.

Well 40 years I might be able to add a couple more to that
I can tell the poor soles that choose not to wear riding gear
****ing gravel rash is not a nice result when you come off a bike at 60 ks in shorts and a t/shirt for a 18 year old and very possibly no better when your older .
I could not wear pants of shirts for 2 months and when i did i had to soak them off in a bath tub due to the rash weeping .
Yes i was dumb and young but i grew up and believe in self preservation as much as i can in my control now
It is all fine if your dumb enough not to wear the proper gear but think of those poor soles that pick you up off the road and or those caring soles that have to put up with your sooky la la`s afterwards in hospital
It is not smart to brag about your selfish stupid idea of your choice to wear what you want sorry to say.
It is just plain selfish and Dumb .

And im talking from first hand experience
And im a rider that wears all the gear
