It is a great idea to have regular checkups at your doctors especially when you are older, However if you do have a problem stressing and worrying about it can most likely cause as much if not more damage than the ailment itself.
I have the odd one or two health problems myself and I deal with them But I certainly don't stress over them because I feel that No problem can be helped by worrying about them.
People are like cars and the older we get the more we tend to break down, It's just the way it is.

They seem to warn older people to beware of brittle bones from loss of calcium and take supplements, I suppose that if the calcium doesn't go to the bones and hangs in the blood it would not be good for you.
My doctor said that he has seen a few of his patients come in with totally preventable calcium kidney stones, what usually happens is their wives get told to take calcium supplements due to bone density loss, so they get their husbands to do so too, and it ends up causing a kidney stone!

The Cook has had an horrendous year caused by taking calcium supps. for too long which in some people can apparently have the opposite effect to that they are prescribed for.
She tripped over in Carnarvon in Sept. last year and cracked her left thigh which despite all his pushing and pulling wasn't diagnosed by the GP. He eventually referred her to a specialist and after an MRI scan he rang us to say for her to get to ED immediately as there was a danger the thigh could break completely. That done and they operated and put an internal splint thing in plus 3 "nails" to hold it firm.
After that she had continuous pains in the right thigh and eventually the quack gave us a letter for ED and again she was admitted immediately. Same op. as on the left thigh and now at last she's off the crutches so she can get back to doing the washing, cleaning, cooking and mowing the lawns.......
Be aware that taking extra calcium can have this effect and its use needs monitoring.

I'll drink to that! JD is my poison of choice.

Have had neuropathy for years since I broke my back, I have had numbness in the big toe of the left foot for 29yrs now.

Can't talk on the phone for long as the bent elbow cuts off the circulation to my hand.

Good luck with your surgery hope it works
