Thread: There seem to be a lot more roos about

When it rains (sometimes here) the water on the road soaks into the verges, making them greener than anywhere else. So the roos gather there. I think lots come from further west in NSW as they can cover a lot of distance. They are a major hazard. I found if you go slowly behind them at night, they tend to hop down the road in front of the vehicle until the engine goes down a few gears and the diesel sounds louder... seems to scare them off a bit and you can get past. Once they are past the passenger door you can go a bit faster. I must comment though, there are an amazing number of fluffy toys apparently thrown out between Lithgow NSW and Mudgee...

We dont stop wild cats , wild pigs , goats , deer and foxes from destroying natural habitat and killing native animals.

People are funny.

Nothing wrong with a little kindness. I'd sooner see someone giving water to an animal that's dying of thirst than filming themselves running them down.

We are over run with them around our property (near Bridgetown WA). Never seen as many (and pigs as well).

About to get a better gun to help solve the problem.

Close to nearby village, a well meaning lady has been putting out food by the roadside for the starving roos. Major result seems to be a kilometre or so of highway with two or three times the body count of nearby stretches!

You can shoot the roos and come back next night and shoot the pigs feeding on the carcasses

Better to shoot the pigs and other hard hoofed animals and leave the roos alone. They don't breed as much in droughts anyway. Farm them instead. Roo meat stewed in a tasty sauce is the way to go, I reckon.

I do, expecially foxes and cats.
Was leaving water out for the roos here, before the creek got a bit of a flow happening.

Tell that to the greens. They would rather watch them suffer and starve than put the buggers out their misery. Near me there is millions of them pushed out of the new suburbs that are getting built.
