I think it's fine to be an environmentalist. After all, if we don't have an environment, we're all dead.
We concrete our best land, run hard-hoofed animals on fragile land, create deserts and then wonder why the place is being ruined. As Dr Spock might say, 'It is not logical.'

Says the people sitting behind their laptops sipping lattes at a cafe in Brunswick or Chatswood.

The question of why we are running sheep/cattle in Aus was being asked years ago when i was in school. I know in our household and most friends that beef and lamb consumption is way down on our parents. Hopefully the trend continues.
Interesting to look up how much of the earth surface is being used for what. Cattle farming is just not sustainable long term.

An article that came to my attention earlier this week stated that a non meat diet , vegan or vegetarian, was the fastest growing diet trend at the moment. No reason given , but speaking for myself red meat is now only a couple times per month. Partly cost , partly I no longer have access to bbq and I really don’t like fried food.

Funny the greenies never seem to worry about the millions of hard hoofed animals in Africa such as Wildebeest, Oryx, and every type of deer.

If the environment is being damaged in Australia imagine what it must be like in Africa!

Has the writer seen what a herd of elephants does to a forest? Every tree broken down for miles and miles.

So I call bull**** on this hysteria about cattle and sheep in Australia.

Well Australia isnt Africa.
Flora and Fauna are somewhat different and when you start playing with the mix you have a problem .
You could argue that Dingo fences and baiting to reduce sheep fatalities has also led to an increase in Kangaroo numbers.
