Well it's about 'looking the part', how many coppers are going to check out an old fart in an landy who looks to be registered. And if they do check it out, because of the countries within a country that we live in...they don't have instant access to interstate records of registration. Becomes all too hard as they watch you drive by!!

Long way to wing it if its from Sydney way. Always coppers on that big hill heading to goulburn. And along the main freeway into sydney before it turns into the hills I think it's called. Been a while since I've been that way, but I used to go melb to Sydney 3 times a week I used to see them every 10 20 ks
They are rife you will not make it no hope in hell. Sounds like your better off dragging a car trailer up or get someone else's plates.
    Cheers Jim

Number plate recognition only picks up unreg. no alarms will ring. Even a copper running a check wouldn't know one trailer from another. For instance, I once owned a 'brown' trailer according to the rego, I painted it blue. Never picked up for it.

Go with no plates at all, and the first copper you see will pull you over.

Not that I endorse lawbreaking, just playing devils advocate.... Personally I would put it on another trailer and tow it home.

I got caught a few months back with my step fathers (my boss) trailer. Unregistered blah blah, I said to him I'm glad you pulled me over I've been telling him for 10 years somones gonna get caught. Still fined me $160 but he let me go home with it. Next week the SF forked out for a new registered tandemUnregistered Vehicle Permit - NSWI'm very wary of running the gauntlet now. To many risks involved fines, insurance, no TAC and more fines. Got away many of times for years with cars and trailers before that but since then I just don't risk it.
    Cheers

Yeah, easy with a plate from another registered trailer - I have friends in NSW who all own trailers but share a plate around as needed - never been pinged.

Can't condone breaking the law but I'm sure it would work... 😇

    Hmmmm.......

Lots of disinformation in this thread.

FWIW, I've just been to Sydney and back this weekend. Towed a trailer. The Hume is full of coppers on the NSW side of the border.
